Oculus Quest: Is it Ready Player One?

TLDR; No. But… it is a ton of fun to use in its current iteration. I have never seriously considered getting one due to the cost constraints of an expensive VR headset that then requires another costly investment of a gaming PC. Along with the small library of software that is currently available on the platform, it just didn’t make a lot of sense financially. An expensive fad I think is how most people would put it.

The Oculus Go was the first VR product that actually piqued my interest. It did not have an expensive price tag at 200 bucks and the setup was not complicated given its self-contained inside-out tracking. This removed the need to set aside an entire room just to set up sensors around it for the tracking. Living in New York city the best I can afford is a tiny shoebox apartment and space is, sad to say, sparse.

The technology has come a long way from when I first thought about VR when I watched the Lawnmower Man back in the 90s.
